A few days ago I received a package with a fully manual 18mm lens. I didn’t even remember ordering it but apparently it was on sale and I thought it was a good idea getting one of those ultra flat lenses that you can use instead of a cap. And since I was going to Basel today anyway I took my camera with me with that lens. It’s a fixed aperture (f/6.3) lens with manual focus that you just leave at ∞ at all times. So you just don’t adjust anything. It’s not sharp or in any other way a good lens. It’s just small and simple.
Is this even street photography? I’m on a street and taking photos, so I guess that makes it street photography. I don’t have the patience to find a good composition and then wait for something to happen that I can capture. And I have no idea how I’m supposed to edit those pictures.
I don’t share many of the pictures that I like, because it shows some person and Swiss laws are quite restrictive when it comes to the right to one’s own image. And showing strangers feels weird. But I also show my stupid face in one of the pictures. The Autumn Fair starts next week any maybe I should go to practice some more.
